WE just came through another Tax Day. It is obvious that the leaders of our government think that money is the answer to all of our problems. A lot of individuals seem to think the same thing. Money is not the answer to our problems. Solomon was the richest man ever and also the smartest man ever. He gives us some good advice in Ecclesiastes 5 about money. We would do well to learn some of these truths.
First, the more we have the more we want. He says in verse 10 –“ He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity.” Jesus said the same thing; “One’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” (Luke 12:15)
Then, the more we have the more we spend. Ec. 5:11 tells us the more we spend so we don’t really profit.
